A customer recently asked me if CR-8000 Design Force could support stretchable flex designs. At first, I found the question odd, until they shared their intent: wearable electronics. The idea of wearable electronic products like head and wrist bands sparked an interesting conversation and piqued my interest.

E3.series provides a tool to export components and symbols from one database and import them into another database of the same version.

Man-carried military communication systems often consume large amounts of power. The heat must be removed from the electronics package to avoid frying sensitive electronic components. The package typically is designed to be carried in a backpack which often puts difficult constraints on the form factor and weight of the system

Cable ducts are special devices used in E3.panel that can be created with or without a definition in an E3.series database. These cable ducts can be created and placed on panel sheets; they’re used to route wires from one location to another.

I am going to tell you about a feature in E3.series that allows you to rename all the components in your project – no matter how many pages you have – at one time. The video below will show you how easy it is to use this feature to save time.

DS-CR maintains electronics design data in a vault with controlled access and revision control. That data must be distributed outside the vault to support various business activities such as fabrication, assembly, and supply chain management.

Tips for when routing differential pairs - You can tell when something isn’t as clear as it should be. The same questions come up time and again. You ask three experts and get three different answers. Routing differential pairs can be like that. Why? Because “it depends” - on exactly what signals those pairs are carrying and what kind of PCB you’re creating.

CR-8000 Design Force can help you verify your design before you send it out to manufacture. Before running any signal integrity analysis in Design Force, you must assign device models to the pins in your components using the Constraint Browser.

In this video, we’ll walk through the process of creating an attribute list of values for a specific attribute. This makes it extremely easy to select a value from a pulldown instead of wondering if you have the correct syntax for a given value. Using the list feature ensures a constant and correct value entry.

One of the many memorable speakers at this year’s Zuken Innovation World Italy was from the Firenze Race Team. We caught up with Team Leader Caterina Lotti to ask her about her team’s ambitious plans to make an autonomous racing car using E3.series.

This tip explains how to use Panel Autoconnect to define wire lengths in E3.series. After a schematic is defined and units are placed in E3.panel, Panel Autoconnect finds the shortest path for the connections defined in the schematic. If units are moved in panel, the length information is updated across modules, allowing users to optimize the enclosure to minimize wire lengths.

Because of its influence on weight and cost, accurately digitizing the wiring system is a priority when implementing a digital twin strategy in the automotive and transportation sectors. It’s also one of the most challenging aspects of this task.
